The Mississippi Mills Municipal Office will be closed for Thanksgiving on Monday, October 14. The Municipality's Building and Planning and Recreation and Culture Departments at Almonte Old Town Hall will also be closed October 14.

Advisory committees and boards provide recommendations, advice and information to Council, as well as help facilitate public input to Council on programs and ideas to assist in enhancing the quality of life for Mississippi Mills residents.

The Mississippi Mills Fire Department is teaming up with the National Fire Protection Association® (NFPA®)—the official sponsor of Fire Prevention Week (FPW)  for more than 100 years—to promote this year’s FPW campaign, “Smoke Alarms: Make Them Work for You!” The campaign works to educate everyone about the importance of having working smoke alarms in the home.

Press Release – John Jordan, MPP for Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston. John Jordan, MPP for Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston, met with the team at Mississippi Madawaska Land Trust (MMLT) on October 4 to hear more about the $123,800 Resilient Communities Grant they received from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) to create a new permanent full-time position to increase capacity and relieve volunteer burnout.

A Special Council Meeting on the 2025 Budget will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2024. The meeting will begin at 6:00 p. m. , where Council will review the draft operating and capital budget, as well as discuss pre-budget approval items.
